To provide a central solution for the control and distribution for 200+ screens of digital signage, way finding and IPTV for all corporate hospitality sites across London 2012.
What we did
By utilising Triple Play server technology and Amino set top boxes, distributed over an Allied Telesis network infrastructure, each site was able to receive free to air and red button feeds with locally generated graphics and digital signage. This setup allowed one operator per site to control all the screens with a mixture of live control and scheduled changes for the duration of both the Olympics and Paralympics.
The flexibility of the Triple Play setup allowed for the receiving of DVB T (Free View), DVB S (Free Sat) and DVB C (Cable distribution by BT) through the same system, ensuring all sites were able to display content relevant to the sports they were hosting as well as general coverage of all events happening that day. This configuration allowed scalability per venue and ease of use with all staff able to support all sites.
